Based on research of urban gardening in Ljubljana
These collages place the community garden Beyond the Construction Site that we iniciated in 2010 in the historical context of urban allotment gardening in Ljubljana. Based on individual allotment gardens, urban gardening has a long-standing tradition in Ljubljana, although the number of allotments has dropped substantially in recent years due to the systematic implementation of a new, stricter policy.
The collages interwines the history of allotment gardening, a new model of community gardens, their rules, the process of self-organization, the natural logic of things, and nature itself. The work highlights the garden as a place to consider what is beautiful and alive, what is basic and simple, and as political tool to activate citizens.
